President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will intensify efforts to address insecurity across the country while continuing to support vulnerable citizens. The President made the remarks during an Eid el-Fitr gathering at his Lagos residence, which was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and 23 state governors, according to a statement from the Statehouse.
This was contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, which state that President Tinubu, who recently returned from a three-day State Visit to the United Kingdom, highlighted discussions with international partners on modern security interventions. “I can report to you that yesterday, I had a lengthy discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron. They are collaborating with us on equipment and support. I am also making frantic efforts to contact other nations,” he was quoted as saying in the release.
The statement said the President urged governors to remain steadfast in translating policies and visions into programmes that directly impact citizens’ livelihoods. He also advised state governments to provide incentives to mitigate inflationary pressures resulting from the ongoing Middle East crisis.
President Tinubu praised Vice President Shettima for his condolence visit to Borno State, promising enhanced protection through new security technologies. The statement added that governors also commended the President for his recent UK visit, noting the historic nature of the trip and investment agreements reached.

Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Alex Otti (Abia), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Caleb Mufwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Agbu Keffas (Taraba), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), and Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), with Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur representing Borno State.
