The Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) has officially admitted a new batch of students during its matriculation ceremony held on Friday at the institute’s premises in Samaru, Zaria.
This was contained in a statement signed by Nuhu Bashir Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG, and dated April 24, 2026.
In his opening remarks, the Registrar, Fedinard Nwachukwu Orji, explained that matriculation marks the formal recognition of newly admitted students as bona fide members of the institution, granting them rights and privileges in line with the institute’s regulations.
The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NILEST, Auwal Mustapha Imam, declared the ceremony open and administered the matriculation oath to students drawn from various departments.
Dr. Imam congratulated the students on their successful admission and urged them to remain focused on their studies, respect their lecturers, and adhere strictly to institutional rules. He also commended parents and guardians for entrusting the institute with the academic and moral development of their children, assuring them of NILEST’s commitment to quality training.
Earlier, the Academic Secretary, Bilkisu Muhammad Bello, formally presented the matriculating students to the Director General, after which the institute’s legal officer administered the oath.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for discipline, academic excellence, and dedication among the new entrants.
