Youth Urged to Reject “Recycled” Politicians, Rally Behind AAC for True Change

The National Youth Leader of the African Action Congress (AAC), Comrade Yahaya M. Abdullahi, has called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to reject what he describes as “recycled” politicians who have dominated the country’s political landscape since 1999.

Speaking in a statement today, Abdullahi criticized the long-standing political elite, accusing them of moving between parties without offering meaningful solutions to the nation’s challenges. “The same set of politicians who have shaped — and largely damaged — the country since 1999 continue to dominate the political space today,” he said. “Their record remains unchanged: failed promises, deepening poverty, insecurity, and a system that works for a few at the expense of millions.”

According to Abdullahi, these politicians often shift allegiance between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties, rebranding themselves without introducing new ideas. He warned that many Nigerians are still persuaded by party labels, believing that a change in party automatically equates to a change in character.

Highlighting the AAC as a viable alternative, Abdullahi said the party represents a movement for systemic change rooted in justice, accountability, and people-centered governance. He criticized current responses to insecurity, such as installing CCTV cameras, describing them as superficial solutions that cannot replace political will. “Technology cannot substitute for leadership,” he said.

The AAC youth leader stressed that the party is led by individuals who have consistently stood with the oppressed, challenging corruption and speaking truth to power even at personal risk. He urged young Nigerians to reclaim their political consciousness and align with leaders who have consistently resisted injustice.

“The future of this country lies heavily in the hands of its youth,” Abdullahi said. “With energy, numbers, and collective action, young Nigerians can reshape the nation’s destiny — but this can only happen if they reject recycled politicians and embrace a new path built on integrity, courage, and accountability.”
He concluded with a rallying call for action, urging citizens to join the AAC and take a stand for justice, dignity, and genuine freedom.
