A Kaduna State governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Usman S. Bawa (ABG), has commended stakeholders of the party in Zaria for unanimously affirming Murtala Iliyasu as the sole PDP candidate for the Zaria Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
ABG also appreciated the returning officer of the PDP House of Representatives primary election in Zaria for ensuring a smooth and successful affirmation process.
He expressed confidence in the support demonstrated by party members across the 13 wards of the constituency, noting that the overwhelming affirmation of Murtala Iliyasu would translate into greater electoral success for the PDP during the 2027 general elections.
The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, members of the PDP Primary Election Committee, and other key stakeholders.
The peaceful affirmation exercise was attended by ward executives and returning officers from all the 13 wards of the constituency.
The wards include Anguwan Juma, Anguwan Fatika, Dambo, Kwarbai A, Kwarbai B, Kufena, Dutsen Abba, Gyallesu, Tudun Wada, Limancin Kona, Wuciciri, and Kaura.
In his acceptance speech, Murtala Iliyasu described the development as historic and a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the people.
According to him, the affirmation demonstrates that the people appreciate and value his contributions to the community, particularly in the area of scholarship programmes.
He reiterated his commitment to effective representation and pledged to attract people-oriented projects that would positively impact the lives of the constituents.
