The National Youth Leader of the African Action Congress (AAC), Comrade Yahaya M. Abdullahi, has called on Nigerian youths to support Omoyele Sowore in the 2027 general elections, describing him as a symbol of integrity, courage, and resistance against oppression.
Abdullahi said Sowore possesses the qualities of honesty, accountability, and unwavering commitment needed to confront injustice and provide credible leadership for the country.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, the AAC youth leader argued that if Nigerian youths fully understood Sowore’s contributions to the defence of citizens’ rights and democratic values, there would be overwhelming public pressure on him to contest for the presidency.
“If Nigerian youths truly appreciate the importance of this patriotic figure, he would not need to personally declare his ambition. Nigerians themselves would urge him to contest,” he stated.
He further noted that Sowore has consistently remained vocal and active in the struggle against oppression, bad governance, and the abuse of power, stressing that silence in the face of injustice only strengthens oppression.
According to Abdullahi, leaders who fail to speak out against injustice indirectly contribute to its persistence in society.
“Nigerian youths should support Omoyele Sowore in order to bring an end to oppression and injustice across the country,” he added.
Omoyele Sowore is a Nigerian politician, human rights activist, and former presidential candidate widely known for his advocacy for good governance, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights, as well as his criticism of corruption and abuse of office in government.
