The member representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Amos Gwamna Magaji, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for a third term ahead of the 2027 general elections after emerging as the party’s consensus candidate following the withdrawal of four aspirants from the race.
The outcome was announced in Zonkwa, headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, after what party officials described as a peaceful and orderly APC House of Representatives primary election.
Declaring the result, Returning Officer Edward Pama said Magaji polled 1,876 votes to clinch the party’s ticket. He noted that the exercise was conducted peacefully and without incident, paving the way for a consensus outcome.
Four aspirants voluntarily stepped down from the contest in support of Magaji’s candidacy, clearing the path for his emergence as the APC flagbearer for the constituency.
Speaking shortly after his declaration, Rt. Hon. Magaji expressed gratitude to God, party leaders, stakeholders, aspirants, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
He described his emergence not as a personal victory, but “a victory for unity, peace, and the collective progress of the constituency.”
The lawmaker commended the maturity, sacrifice, and statesmanship displayed by the aspirants who stepped aside in the interest of party unity. He listed them as Sylvester Anthony, Simon Katunku Gora, Bwans Gideon Kambai, Audu Maikori, and Nita Byack George.
According to Magaji, their decision to place the unity and peace of the constituency above personal ambition reflected true leadership and patriotism.
He assured party stakeholders and supporters that the project ahead belonged to everyone, pledging to uphold fairness, inclusiveness, and collective participation in both the campaign and future legislative activities.
Magaji also extended special appreciation to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for his leadership, wisdom, and commitment to peace, fairness, and unity throughout the process.
According to him, the governor’s leadership continues to inspire hope and confidence among the people of the state.
The lawmaker further thanked Deputy Governor Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, members of the Consensus Committee, and APC State Chairman Atiku Sankey for ensuring a transparent and peaceful exercise.
He also acknowledged the contributions of several party leaders and stakeholders, including Sunday Marshall Katung, Larai Sylvia Ishaku, Bege Joseph, Emmanuel Kantiok, Samuel Kambai, Henry Marah, Abdulmalik Durunguwa, Joseph Thot, Esua Guga, and Naymarie Francesca Musa-Akande.
Magaji appreciated elders, youths, women groups, party faithful, supporters, and campaign teams across the constituency for their prayers, sacrifices, and unwavering support during the build-up to the primary election.
Calling for unity after the exercise, he extended a hand of fellowship to supporters of all aspirants, saying the time had come for collective action toward the success of the APC and the development of the constituency.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more democratic dividends and development projects to Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency if re-elected in 2027.
He said the focus going forward would be on building a stronger, more united, and prosperous constituency where every community has a sense of belonging and every voice is heard.
Magaji urged the people to set aside all forms of division and embrace peace, unity, and togetherness, noting that “united we stand, divided we fall.”
“With unity, determination, and the support of our people, victory is assured by the grace of God,” he said.
He concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, and Nigeria.
