The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST), Dr Auwal Mustapha Imam, on Sunday joined the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen, at a Qur’anic memorisation graduation ceremony in Kaduna.
The information was contained in a statement issued by the DG’s Media Office on May 3, 2026.
The event, organised by Na’ibi Charity Foundation Li Tahfeezul Qur’an, was held at Murtala Square and attracted a number of high-profile dignitaries, including the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.
Other members of the Speaker’s entourage included the Managing Director of the Northwest Development Commission, Professor Abdullahi Ma’aji, and the Director-General of the Nigeria Office for Trade Negotiations, Rt. Hon. Sunusi Rikiji.
Addressing the graduating students, Speaker Abbas urged them to uphold the values of discipline and good character in line with the teachings of the Qur’an.
He emphasised that bearers of religious knowledge are expected to demonstrate exemplary conduct, noting that knowledge of the Qur’an must be reflected in both personal behaviour and societal engagement.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of students who successfully completed Qur’anic memorisation under the foundation’s programme.
Following the event, Dr Imam accompanied the Speaker to the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna for his return journey to Abuja.
