The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the media and educational institutions.
Prof. Bunkure stated this while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists during a courtesy visit to his office.

The discussion centred on issues of mutual interest, particularly the role of the media in promoting institutional research and development, public engagement, and effective information dissemination.
The Vice-Chancellor described journalists as critical stakeholders in shaping public perception and strengthening institutional image.

He commended media practitioners for their contributions to societal development and called for sustained partnership in promoting the activities, programmes, and vision of the university.
Prof. Bunkure also highlighted the progress recorded by the university since he assumed office, outlining achievements in key areas such as academic development, infrastructural improvement, staff and student welfare, and institutional advancement.

According to him, the university remains committed to strengthening its academic and administrative structures in line with its mandate and vision of achieving greater growth, relevance, and visibility.

Earlier, the Secretary of the NUJ, Zaria Unit, Mustapha Adamu Yauri of the News Agency of Nigeria, said the visit was aimed at fostering closer engagement with the university management and reaffirming the union’s readiness to project the institution’s positive achievements.
According to him, the media plays a vital role in national development through responsible journalism, balanced reporting, and effective dissemination of information to the public.
