The Zamfara State Government has clarified that funds accessed under the World Bank's State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme are being judiciously utilised to drive economic growth and improve the state's business environment.

The clarification was made by Governor Dauda Lawal through his deputy, Mallam Mani Mummuni, during the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) National Town Hall and State Engagement Tour held in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The engagement was part of a nationwide stakeholders' consultation aimed at assessing the implementation and progress of the SABER Programme across participating states.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor said strengthening the state's business environment remains a key priority of the Lawal administration, adding that the government has continued to implement reforms and provide infrastructure to support businesses and attract investment.

> "SABER seeks to strengthen the implementation of business-enabling reforms. The Zamfara State Government has commenced system strengthening of the business-enabling environment across its agencies.

> "In line with the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal (Gamjin Gusau), significant efforts have been made to provide critical infrastructure and ensure that all funds accessed under the World Bank SABER Programme are effectively utilised for growth and development," he said.

Mallam Mummuni disclosed that the state government had constructed four Small Claims Courts in Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Gummi and Talata Mafara to facilitate the speedy resolution of commercial disputes and boost investors' confidence.

Also speaking, the leader of the PEBEC North-West Engagement Tour, Barrister Jafar Shu'aibu, stressed the need for states to understand the investment lifecycle and create a more conducive environment for investors.

He said improving the ease of doing business would enhance investor confidence and stimulate economic development.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State PEBEC Focal Person and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Sani Bukkuyum, urged stakeholders to offer practical recommendations that would strengthen government efforts to build a resilient, inclusive and business-friendly economy.
