The Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (ACHPN), Kaduna State Branch, has launched "Operation Show Your Valid Licence and Certificate," a statewide compliance exercise aimed at strengthening professionalism and improving the quality of healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Primary Health Care (PHC) Zonal Office in Zaria, the State Chairman of the Association, Comrade Aliyu Abdulrashid Umar, said the exercise is a key regulatory initiative of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).
He explained that the operation is designed to ensure that only duly registered and currently licensed Community Health Practitioners provide healthcare services to the public.
According to him, the initiative is a proactive measure to strengthen professionalism, enforce compliance with statutory regulations, eliminate quackery, and safeguard the quality of healthcare delivery across communities in Kaduna State.
Comrade Umar said the exercise is intended to protect the public from unqualified and unauthorised practitioners while promoting patient safety by ensuring that only competent and licensed professionals remain in practice.
He added that the operation would also encourage practitioners to maintain valid biennial practising licences and comply with the regulations of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.
He noted that the initiative would further uphold the dignity, integrity, and ethical standards of the community health profession while supporting government efforts to improve the quality of primary healthcare services across Kaduna State.
The ACHPN Chairman assured the Registration Board of the association's unwavering support and commitment to the successful implementation of the exercise. He also urged members to cooperate fully with the inspection team by presenting their valid registration certificates and current practising licences whenever requested.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Director-General of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad Mandara Madaki, emphasised the importance of continuous professional development and the acquisition of additional qualifications.
Dr. Madaki noted that the Community Health profession has witnessed significant advancement in recent years, adding that several universities across the country now have Professors of Community Health, reflecting the growing academic recognition and professional development of the discipline.
