Gov. Uba Sani Picks Jerry Adams as Running Mate for 2027 Kaduna Governorship Election

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced the nomination of Mr. Jerry Adams as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a reaffirmation of his administration's commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equitable governance.

The governor made the announcement in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying the choice followed "wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers."

According to Sani, the nomination goes beyond selecting a deputy governorship candidate, stressing that it reinforces the principles that have guided his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

"This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration... the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging," the governor stated.

Sani described Kaduna as a state enriched by its religious, ethnic and cultural diversity, saying such diversity should be regarded as a strength rather than a source of division.

He noted that his administration had spent more than three years promoting reconciliation, restoring public confidence and ensuring that development projects reached all parts of the state.

According to him, investments in roads, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection have been distributed across the state's 23 local government areas without discrimination.

The governor also attributed improvements in security and economic activities to collaboration between government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups.

"As security has improved, farmers have returned to their lands, businesses have expanded, investments have grown and hope has steadily replaced fear in many communities," Sani said, adding that sustainable peace could only be achieved through fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity.

Speaking on his choice of running mate, the governor described Adams as an accomplished public servant and a seasoned tax administrator whose leadership at the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service had strengthened the state's revenue base.

Sani said Adams' contributions through innovation, transparency and professionalism had enhanced the state's fiscal capacity, enabling greater investment in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other key sectors.

He further praised Adams for what he described as his integrity, humility and commitment to peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance.

"His emergence reflects our continuing determination to build a Kaduna where merit, competence and character remain the true qualifications for leadership," the governor stated.

Looking ahead to the 2027 election, Sani urged residents of Kaduna State to embrace unity and reject divisions based on religion, ethnicity or geography.

He called on citizens to support the vision of building a state where every child has the opportunity to succeed, every community prospers, every faith is respected and every resident enjoys equal opportunities.

"The work of building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna is not yet complete, but together we have laid a solid foundation," he said.

The governor concluded by praying for God's continued guidance as his administration pursues what he described as "this noble journey of service."
