The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Mamman Nami, has vowed to recover properties he alleged were acquired with public funds by the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago if elected governor in the 2027 governorship election.
Nami made the disclosure during a thank-you visit to PDP members and stakeholders in Minna alongside his running mate, Alhaji Dahiru Dan-Azumi Abdul.
He assured party members and stakeholders that he would justify the confidence reposed in him and the PDP if elected.
Nami alleged that some of the properties were located within and outside Nigeria, including in Abuja, Lagos, Dubai, Brazil, Washington, D.C., and London, among other locations.
He said proceeds recovered from the properties would be channelled into the development of Niger State.
Nami also pledged not to betray the trust of Niger State residents, citing his tenure as Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), to which he was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him, his administration would prioritise education, healthcare, youth and women employment, agriculture, human development, water supply, and improved welfare for pensioners.
He also pledged to recover funds allegedly diverted from pension-related resources in the state and use them to improve the welfare of pensioners.
Nami expressed concern over the activities of bandits involved in kidnapping residents across the state, saying the situation would be addressed if he is elected.
He called for calm and peace, urging residents to avoid protests and instead use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote in the 2027 election.
He also criticised the Bago administration over what he described as the continued killings, kidnappings and destruction of farmlands and properties across the state.
Nami further referred to deaths recorded at the Government House following an incident in which, according to him, the governor directed the gate to be opened for citizens seeking to collect money. He linked the incident to other recent deaths in the state, including those involving miners.
