The Niger State chapter of the Huffazul Qur’an and Scholars Association of Nigeria has held special prayers for miners who lost their lives while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna.
The prayers were held during a visit by leaders of the association from Niger State and the North Central to one of its members, Hon. Muhammad S. D. Mambo (Tamborin Bosso), who recently assumed office as the Managing Director of the Niger State Mining Company (Zuma Investment).
Speaking during the visit, the Niger State Chairman of the association, Gwani Sheikh Hussaini Abubakar Shakwata, said the delegation visited the new Managing Director to encourage and support him in his new position.
He said the association also offered special prayers for the families of those who lost their lives while in Civil Defence custody last week.
“We send our condolences to the government of Niger State, the Minna Emirate, the relatives of the victims and the wider Muslim community,” Shakwata said.
He reaffirmed the association’s support for initiatives of the Niger State Government, particularly those aimed at developing mineral resources and creating employment opportunities for young people.
In his remarks, the North Central Coordinator of the association, Amb. Musa Adamu Hadeja, urged Islamic scholars to continue cooperating with the government and to intensify prayers for lasting peace.
Amb. Hadeja also called on security agencies to uphold their responsibility to protect the lives of citizens and to act with the fear of God.
He described the reported deaths of people, including children and women, while in Civil Defence custody as regrettable and prayed that such incidents would not recur.
Speaking on behalf of the Niger State Government, the newly appointed Managing Director of Zuma Investment, Hon. Muhammad S. D. Mambo, commended the Huffazul Qur’an and Scholars Association for visiting him and expressing concern over the incident.
Mambo expressed appreciation for the association’s continued support through prayers, humanitarian activities and assistance to vulnerable members of society.
He said the state government, under the leadership of Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, appreciates such efforts and contributions to the wellbeing of the people.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Malam Muhammadu Sani, led the special prayers, asking Allah to accept the deceased as martyrs and grant their families strength and comfort.
