The Managing Director of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIM, FNIS, (Katukan Yauri), has hosted Commissioners of Environment and Climate Change from the Commission’s 10 member states.
The meeting, held on Tuesday in Abuja, provided an opportunity to review the ecological and environmental challenges confronting the member states, as well as ongoing efforts towards effective environmental management, climate adaptation and sustainable development.
The discussions also focused on the need for stronger collaboration between N-HYPPADEC and the respective state governments in addressing environmental challenges and strengthening climate resilience.
The meeting further considered preparations for the forthcoming 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to take place in November 2026.
Participants emphasised the importance of climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and coordinated participation and representation by relevant stakeholders at the conference.
