The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali U. Fagge, has honoured Islamic scholar Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim Masussuka during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between religious leaders and security agencies.
Sheikh Masussuka, who leads the Qur'anic Believers Harmony for Peace Initiative, visited the Command headquarters on Monday, October 5, 2026, to seek police support ahead of a major national event.
He announced that his organisation will host the "National Unity Gathering for Prayer of Peace, Security, and Violence-Free Elections in Nigeria" on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, (Karkanda) Katsina. The gathering will also mark the completion of his Tafsir Al-Qur'an bil Qur'an (Qur'anic exegesis). It is intended to bring Nigerians together across religious and ethnic lines to pray for national stability and the integrity of the electoral process.
The Sheikh requested the cooperation and logistical support of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in ensuring the safety and smooth coordination of the large congregation expected.
Responding, CP Fagge commended the Sheikh's commitment to peacebuilding and national cohesion, describing him as a rare personality: "Among thousands, it is rare to find ten of his caliber." He assured the Sheikh that the Command would do everything within its power to ensure the event begins and ends peacefully.
The Commissioner also presented a gift to the Sheikh in recognition of his service and to encourage his continued peacebuilding efforts.
Sheikh Masussuka thanked CP Fagge and the Police Force for the honour and support. He prayed for the Commissioner, the state's security agencies and the nation.
The Sheikh has spent years teaching the Qur'an and advocating unity among diverse communities, and is recognised nationally as a Peace Ambassador.
