The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Niger State, Alhaji Muhammad Mamman Nami, has received assurances of support from veteran politician and former PDP governorship candidate, Umar Mohammed Nasko, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Nasko, popularly known as Jarman Kontagora, pledged his support when Nami paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja as part of consultations with political leaders and stakeholders across Niger State.
The visit, according to information provided by Nami’s camp, was aimed at seeking the advice, guidance and support of influential figures towards developing a shared vision for the state.
Nami said the consultations were part of his efforts to restore Niger State to what he described as its rightful position of leadership in Northern Nigeria and the country at large.
Nasko is regarded as an experienced political figure in Niger State, having contested the governorship election in 2015 and 2019 under the PDP.
Speaking during the visit, Nami described the former governorship candidate as a man of integrity and an “encyclopedia” whose political experience and knowledge would be valuable as the party prepares for the 2027 election.
He also expressed concern over what he characterised as the state’s current developmental setbacks, stressing the need for experienced leaders to contribute ideas towards its progress.
In his response, Nasko welcomed Nami and expressed appreciation for the visit and the decision to consult him ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
He assured the PDP candidate of his support, pledging to continue offering advice and guidance throughout the political process.
Nasko also promised to keep Nami in his prayers as he pursues his ambition to become the next governor of Niger State.
