The Vice Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Abdulkarim Abdulkareem Kamilu, has distributed power banks to social media users in the area to support their online activities and address challenges associated with keeping their mobile phones charged.
The distribution took place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, as part of an initiative aimed at helping beneficiaries sustain their online activities without frequent interruptions caused by low battery power.
The gesture followed the leadership efforts of the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Hon. Sheikh Muhammad Jamilu Abubakar Albani Samaru.
Speaking during the presentation, Kamilu urged social media users to embrace responsible online practices by verifying information before sharing it with the public.
He cautioned against spreading rumours and unverified reports, emphasising the need to ensure that news and other content circulated across social media platforms are accurate and reliable.
The vice chairman also encouraged the beneficiaries to use their platforms to promote peace, unity and development in Sabon Gari Local Government Area and Kaduna State at large.
He further called on them to publicise the programmes, policies and achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the national level to the grassroots, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
In their response, the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the vice chairman for the gesture and pledged to use their social media platforms responsibly.
They also declared their support for the APC and expressed optimism about Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid.
The initiative underscores the growing role of social media in information dissemination, public engagement and political communication at the grassroots level.
