The
Islamic Movement in Nigeria has alleged an attempt to eliminate their leader,
Shielkh El-Zakzaky who has been in police custody for years
According
to a report obtained by The Struggle Online Newspaper, signed by
Abdullahi Muhammad Musa, for the Academic Forum of the Islamic movement in
Nigeria
“According
to a reliable source close to Lt-Gen. Yusuf Tukur Buratai, the assignment
shouldered on him by tyrant Buhari during the massacre in Zaria was to
eliminate the leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem
Zakzaky, through whatever means possible. Mr Buratai himself was quoted saying
that; “the operation has failed due to our inability to kill el-Zakzaky”.
Even
so, the orchestration of how to prevail in the government’s daredevil
machinations against Sheikh Zakzaky and his acolytes owes its provenance to the
office of the National Security Adviser [NSA], Major-Gen. Babagana Monguno
[Rtd]. The NSA’s desperation for the smiles of luck on him to get rid of the
illegally detained Sheikh always results in the recklessness of availing
himself of smokescreens to deceive the public, casting about for an opportunity
to seize for the happiness of Buhari by killing Sheikh Zakzaky.
In
the most recent cunning stratagem, a deleterious “intelligence report” is being
circulated to the Nigerian security agents that a group termed “JAISH IMAN
AHMAD” is going through a “gradual transformation…into an organized militia
group,” and nothing could be farther from the truth. Our concerns heightened
the more the moment we saw in the mischievous report that “members” of the
so-called group are to “attack key targets nationwide – correctional facilities
in Kaduna, FCT and the National Assembly Complex.”
The
public will recall that five months ago, on Thursday, 5th December, 2019 to be
exact, Justice Gideon Kurada of the Kaduna High Court ordered the Directorate
of State Service [DSS] to transfer the illegally detained Sheikh Zakzaky and
his wife, Zeenat, to the Kaduna Central Prison to allow them gain easy access
to their doctors and lawyers; and they were immediately transferred, but all to
no avail. Again, there are seventy-six (76) followers of the Sheikh that were
being detained at FCT Correctional Centres. Thus, with our leader in Kaduna and
other people in the FCT, we consider the baseless, mischievous report as a
fresh systematic plot to assassinate Sheikh Zakzaky under its guise, and we
vehemently reject and condemn it altogether.
We
gathered that the so-called “intelligence report” has its origin in the Force
Intelligence Bureau [FIB], a unit of the Nigeria Police Force [NPF], Abuja. The
report dated April 2020 with reference number CB: 4089/INTLAB
/FIB/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.8/291/ DTO:141340/04/2020. However, and from all indications,
the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has been engaged, and
is thus desperate to please his boss by putting some finishing touches to what
the likes of Mr. Buratai have done and still are in progress.
Buhari’s
regime is too desperate to have the Islamic movement ill-named in order to hang
it, but desperation, from the powers that are against a people, is by itself
another cruel form of persecution. The phantom claim that the Islamic movement
is armed is completely ludicrous; weapons are for the foolhardy. Ours is a
conceptual struggle that gun never makes nor mars; and it cannot be put off
with a gun; gun can only make it stronger.
An
ideological movement of more than forty years standing without a record of
violence is indeed a movement that improves lives and makes them better. If it
ameliorates, it cannot turn out to be that which aggravates or destroys. It is
high time the regime aligned with substance and stop chasing shadow. Incessant
killings merely make us resistant to deterrence.
Over
40 years now, Sheikh Zakzaky and his followers have been detained and still are
being detained, but we always follow the lawful approach in securing the
release of our brothers and sisters. On the current illegal detention, the
Sheikh has employed the services of Barrister Femi Falana, SAN to pursue the
case at Kaduna State High Court and Court of Appeal, Abuja.
From
December, 2015 to date security agents have arrested thousands of Sheikh
Zakzaky’s followers. We employed the services of lawyers in both Kaduna and
Abuja. In the two above-mentioned cities alone, more than 1,000 brothers and
sisters have been acquitted and discharged by different courts.
Now
it is glaringly conspicuous that Buhari’s regime has engaged the service of
hoodlums, who will attack where Sheikh Zakzaky is being illegally incarcerated
in Kaduna, and the FCT, where scores of his followers were detained, and the
security agents will arrive and finalise the agenda. Is not it criminal for a
state to weaponize its keeping in detention of a citizen and be aiming at his
life, again and again and again? How on earth would someone think it feasible
for an evil clique in the power corridor to kill a man it has so much oppressed
and get off scot-free? This is, of course, too expensive a joke to crack. We
are in the know of all those accomplices involved, and they alone will squarely
be held responsible for whatever happens to our leader.
Finally,
despite deliberate provocations and intimidations we are determined to continue
with our protest demanding for the unconditional release of Sheikh Ibraheem
Zakzaky and his wife, Mallama Zeenah.
