The students of Immaculate Conception Secondary School, Bauchi has embarked on awareness creation on the important of waste to wealth among the students and communities.
The head teacher, Mr Adewale Adelasowin said that students under the Environmental and Conservation Club have decided to use today in commemoration of World International Environmental Day with a view to sensitize, educate and enlightened their colleagues and the communities on the important of waste to wealth ideas.
Adewale, explained that the students Club was formed since in 2020 three years ago with aims of inculcating habits among the students on how to protect and improve their environment as well as engaging them into entrepreneurship right from younger ages. Or tender ages.
According to him, the idea and concept of the event was also inline with this year’s theme: Beat the Plastic and Watse"
some of the students had been interviewed like Tabi Jaro from SS ll student said "Today is a great day that we embark on this project to sensitize, educate and enlightened the students and harmful effects of the global warming that's affecting the environment as a result of human inability or man’s negligence in the protection of the environment".
She equally called on the people to participate in the crusades not to ensuring the cleanness of the environment and these huge responsibilities shouldn’t be left only on the hands of the government officials alone,it’s a collective responsibility, she added
Adding that students should be the agent of positive change in this perspective on the environment when they see dirty on the ground floor,they should make effort to pick it, by not wanting for someone to pick it for them.
Glosome Abdullahi from SS ll said today is a very important day to tell people that anything waste products can give us new things and can also turn to wealth. Saying that we should get involve in recycling and also cleanup our environment.
On his part, Abubakar Mustapha advised his friends and people to engage in community services to help in cleaning the environment,that would make us to have better and healthier environment,to avoid the harmful effects of environmental pollution.
