Niger State House of Assembly, has passed a vote of Confidence to Governor Muhammad Umar Bago's NEW NIGER AGENDA, moved by Muhammad Sani Idris, member representing Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, on 26th of March 2024, at the State House of Assembly Complex.
The Governor who appeared at the floor of the State Assembly, was represented by the Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba.
The motion described the Governor as a committed and astute manager of resources and men, towards ensuring a successful New Niger Agenda's implementation.
The Adoption and secondment of the motion was moved by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji.
The proceedings where Presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Eunice Afiniki Dauda. The vote of Confidence, scored the Governor's Urban Renewal initiative, Conversion of Shiroro Hotel to IBBUTH, Procurement of 1000nos of industrial value-chain tractors, earmarking 4.5miillion hectares of land for Cultivation, mapping and construction of Ring Road Project.
Other Legislative oversight's scoreboard of the State Assembly on the Governor, is review of the State Trade fair and City gate to Paiko, payment of 20,000 palliative to civil servants, distribution of palliative grains to 274 wards of the State, disbursement of 976 million naira Ramadan feeding program to eight Emirates of the State, expansion of the Minna city express road to six lane and recruitment of graduates into the State civil service.
The Members of the Legislature lauded the Governor non-interference in the activities of various Committees of the State Assembly by the Executive Arm, pledging their continued support towards good governance in the State.
The Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, expressing his Overwhelming support for the passage of the vote of Confidence, says it is first of it kind in the State, from the Legislatures to the State Executive. Appreciating the Speaker and other Members of the Assembly, the Deputy Governor stated that in extension to the Judicial Arm of the Government, the present administration has impacted positively in all sectors of the State, describing the vote of confidence as a wakeup call, noting that the Executive will adhere to constitutionalism, assuring the Legislatures to continue with all the necessary Support and co-operation for the Government to succeed in it New Niger Agenda.
Recall that the Legislative oversight scoreboard, has rated the Governor in terms of infrastructure, social development, human capital development, Humanitarian response and security Architectural initiative. Even the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is not left out, in the vote of Confidence given to Governor Bago, in the President's words, he said; "the Governor has shown an uncommon commitment to change his State. He has demonstrated efforts in transforming the State capacity to solve the food security of Nigeria, by creating opportunities for his people".
