In recognition of her humanitarian activities and contributions towards vulnerable women and children in Zamfara, the state's First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has been awarded the title of Most Egalitarian First Lady of the Year. The award was presented by African Iconic Women during a colorful event held in the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

While receiving the award, the wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, expressed her appreciation to the organizers of the event for selecting her as one of the notable Nigerians to receive the award.

"It is heartwarming and gratifying that I am nominated as the Most Egalitarian First Lady of the Year. I am indeed appreciative of the organizers of this African Iconic Women recognition award for acknowledging the contributions we are making to improve the lives of society, especially women and children," she said.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the Wife of the Governor of Zamfara State, Zara'u Musa, mentioned that Hajiya Huriyya described the award as a challenge to do more in encouraging equality among the populace, irrespective of their status.

The Wife of the Governor, however, dedicated the award to the great women and children of Zamfara State for their resilience in supporting the policies and programs of the present administration under the leadership of her husband, Dauda Lawal.

Similarly, the First Lady thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for all the necessary support and cooperation he has given to her office, which has led to these successes.
