Four former Zamfara State governors, including Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima, Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, and the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, held a closed-door meeting today to discuss ways to improve the state's deteriorating security situation.
In a statement by Yusuf Idris Gusau, APC Publicity Secretary, it was noted that the former leaders met at the Minister's residence in Abuja for about four hours into the late night. They discussed the security situation in general with a view to finding a lasting solution to the problem and improving socio-economic growth, education, and healthcare development in the state.
They emphasized that in discussing security matters, all other concerns and differences, especially political ones, must be set aside for the greater good of the people.
Although details of the meeting were not fully disclosed, it was gathered from an impeccable source at the residence that the former governors also discussed better ways to move the All Progressives Congress (APC) forward.
The source stated that the unity and progress of the party are more important than anything ahead of the coming elections.
