The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Adamawa state branch conducted a campaign march to inform the public about the effects of drug abuse on human health in the state.

The campaign, held on Saturday in Yola, was attended by government organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and marked the United Nations' World Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Speaking at the event, the commander of the NDLEA in the state, Agboalu Femi Samson, who led the march, said the awareness campaign is part of a week-long plan aimed at reaching out to the public.

He highlighted the obvious effects of drug abuse and conveyed the warning from the head of the NDLEA, Brig General Muhammadu Buba Marwa (rtd), for the public to avoid drugs such as Cannabis Sativa, Cocaine, Tramadol, Exol-5, Diazepam tablets, Codeine-based syrup, Rohypnol tablets, and Pentazocine injections.

Also speaking on behalf of the state governor, the commissioner of the Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Humanitarian Services, Bello Hammandaram, stated that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had instructed him to assure the NDLEA and other stakeholders that the government at all levels is committed to the fight against illegal drugs.

He emphasized that the state government is actively working to stop drug trafficking and abuse to save lives in the state.
