The Zamfara-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI), conducted a dialogue with community leaders and security agents on access to justice, peace, and accountability.

The dialogue took place in Birnin Magaji, Nasarawa Godel, Tsafe, and Bilbis communities, with participants from security agencies, community and religious leaders, Civil Society Organizations, and Community-Based Organizations, among others.

The event was conducted in collaboration with the international NGO, International Alert, under the project "Promoting Stability, Access to Justice and Accountability in the Northwest Region of the Country."

The project is being implemented in Kaduna and Zamfara States.

The activity, "Community Engagement with Security Agencies on Security Priorities Issues and Building Partnership to Ensure Effective Oversight and Accountability," was a key focus.

In a welcome address, the Executive Director of VAI, Musa Umar, said the dialogue is part of the activities aimed at promoting stability, access to justice, and accountability in Zamfara communities.

"This activity aims to engage major stakeholders such as traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, community leaders, marginalized groups, persons with disabilities, and government officials on how to promote access to justice.

"We find it necessary to organize this dialogue with community members and security agents to discuss modalities for promoting peace, stability, and access to justice in society."
