The new board of the Adamawa State Action for the Control of HIV/AIDS (ADSACA) has pledged to revamp the agency for optimal performance aimed at reducing HIV prevalence in the state.
Dr. Boniface Gundiri, the agency’s executive secretary, made the promise Tuesday in Yola during a courtesy call on the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, in her office.
Gundiri said the agency will focus on advocacy efforts targeting commercial sex workers and brothels. He further stated that the agency will intensify its advocacy involving the media and traditional institutions to encourage people to get tested and know their HIV status.
Earlier, the deputy governor said the government has invested significantly in critical healthcare projects aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services. She highlighted that various initiatives have been funded to enhance the healthcare sector across the state.
