The Niger State House of Assembly reached a resolution today following a motion raised under matters of Urgent Public Importance by Hon. Zakari Ndagi Kinbokun, representing Mokwa Constituency.
Hon. Kinbokun informed the House that on Friday, July 5, 2024, the Kpautagi Community in Mokwa Local Government Area was struck by a severe rainstorm, causing extensive damage to properties. He reported that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, homes and business premises were flooded, and two drainages were blocked.
According to Hon. Kinbokun, over 20 farmlands were submerged, leading to the destruction of many crops and the loss of a large number of livestock. He emphasized the urgent need for the Executive Arm of Government to mobilize manpower and resources to assist the victims promptly. This includes providing support for the repair and reconstruction of damaged buildings, as well as aid to farmers who have suffered losses.
Following the presentation and deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the motion's recommendations.
