Farmers from Demsa, Numan, and Lamurde federal constituencies received training on modern farming techniques and entrepreneurial development, sponsored by Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori, Member of the House of Representatives, on Thursday.

Taking advantage of the wet season and the farmers' readiness for planting, the lawmaker sponsored the training and empowerment of his constituents to alleviate the burden caused by the current economic realities in the country.

The uniquely organized training featured consultants who educated farmers on research-based modern farming techniques and how to become agricultural entrepreneurs. Participants were thoroughly trained on selecting land, choosing crop or animal varieties, preparation, nurturing, funding, value addition, and marketing of farm produce.

The training manual, which covers essential aspects of the agricultural value chain, is also enriched with elements of smart agriculture using ICT assets and applications.

Agricultural professionals, including Elder Joseph Jaryum, a seasoned consultant, and Mr. Collins Visomenso Samaila, a certified business consultant, provided both theoretical and practical insights into 21st-century, technology-driven agriculture. They emphasized that no land is inherently bad and no crop is more valuable than another; success depends on the application of the right knowledge. They also highlighted the importance of utilizing local resources and proven knowledge to boost productivity.

Hon. Rt. Kwamoti B. Laori, represented by Hon. Titus Solomon, the State Commissioner for Rural Development and special guest of honor, praised the participants after a brief review of their learning. He encouraged them to apply the acquired knowledge and utilize the provided inputs effectively.

In his remarks, Hon. Bulus Daniel urged the trained participants to share their knowledge within their wards to benefit other farmers and assured them of his support in this effort.

Speakers at the event, including Hon. James Iliya, Elder Amna Farai (District Head of Numan), Chief Madayi Tusayi, and the Executive Chairmen of Demsa, Lamurde, and Numan LGAs, encouraged participants to use the knowledge to enhance productivity in their areas. They also commended Hon. Kwamoti Laori’s visionary leadership and representation at the National Assembly, and prayed for continuous guidance and protection for him and his family.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates, fertilizers, knapsack sprayers, herbicides, and cash donations to participants, marking a significant highlight of the occasion.

The visibly elated participants expressed their gratitude to Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori for sponsoring the program, which positively impacted their lives. They promised to make the most of the knowledge and items provided in their respective locations.

Dignitaries present at the event included Prof. Dishi M. Khobe, Adviser to the State Government on Food Security, Hon. Pwagwadi Omeno (SA to the Governor), Hon. Niwesa George Kushi (Pipiyo Bata), Chief Alfred Madakapwa (Bongo Bata), President Pene-da-Bwatiye Abuja Branch, and the LGA Chairmen of PDP in Lamurde and Numan, among others.
