An APC chieftain in Zamfara State, Muhammad Bello Bakyasuwa, has explained why the APC members under Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa have no confidence in the two former governors of the state, Bello Matawalle (Minister of State for Defence) and Sen. Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari (Chairman Senate Committee on Water Resources), regarding the APC leadership in the state.

Bakyasuwa, a former Director of Security Affairs and immediate past Commandant of the Zamfara Anti-Thuggery Agency under Gov. Bello Matawalle's administration, noted that the selfish leadership of Yari and Matawalle was a major reason behind the party's failure in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

"Lack of competent leadership in our party in the state is responsible for the disunity and instability, which led to various factions in the party," he said.

He also criticized Matawalle's appointment as Minister of State for Defence, stating it did not yield any positive impacts on the state, especially towards addressing the lingering security challenges.

"Yari, as a strong pillar in the Senate, is not doing much for the state but is busy pursuing his daily selfish political interests," Bakyasuwa added.

"It is very unfortunate that the two leaders in the APC-led Federal Government have failed to perform effectively. They failed to meet the expectations of the common man regarding addressing security challenges," he continued.

"As far as I am concerned, Zamfara has no valid representation in the Tinubu-led APC administration."

Bakyasuwa emphasized that Zamfara is one of the states in Northern Nigeria that voted massively for President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in the 2023 elections, thanks to the efforts of Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Sen. Kabiru Marafa.

"Despite the contribution of Sen. Marafa to the APC's victory in the 2023 presidential elections in the state, some selfish and incompetent politicians are misusing the opportunity given to them to represent the state in the Federal Government," he said.

He criticized the APC leadership in the state under Tukur Umar Danfulani, stating they lack the capacity to run the party's affairs and secure future election victories.

"Tukur Danfulani is not a lawful member of the party as he was sacked by his political ward executives, the Galadima APC Ward Executives in Gusau Local Government Area," he noted.

"I wonder how a sacked member of the party should be allowed to parade himself as the party chairman in the state."

Bakyasuwa expressed confidence that only the Sen. Marafa-led APC leadership group can lead the party to victory in the 2027 general elections.

"Senator Marafa remains the only APC leader in the state. He is a tested and trusted leader, a man of his word, a transparent leader with a good mission for the party and the state," he said.

"I believe the Senator Marafa APC leadership group is well capable of promoting peace, unity, and stability in the party."
