The Zamfara State Government has sensitized local government officials and other stakeholders on budget processes across the 14 local government areas of the state.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdullahi Muhammad Birnin Magaji, made available to newsmen in Gusau, it was revealed that a three-day workshop was organized to educate officials handling budgets at the local government level.
The workshop, under the leadership of Hon. Ahmad Garba Yandi, targeted officials such as Council Chairmen, Directors of Finance, and Directors of Planning from each local government. Presentations were made on budget preparation, adjustment, and correction where necessary.
In his address, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ahmad Garba Yandi, emphasized the necessity of the workshop to correct errors made in the previous year's budget. He called on participants to pay attention and make good use of the knowledge acquired.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Hamisu A. Faru, also spoke, highlighting the timeliness of the seminar and promising the steady passing of the budget to enable the continuation of developmental projects.
The Auditor General, Aminu Mamanga, assured that his officers would thoroughly check the budgets to ensure efficient fund utilization. ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Kasimu Kaura, commended the Ministry for the initiative, noting that it would significantly enhance the skills needed for budget preparation.
