In response to the recent surge in violent protests, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared 24 hours curfew in Azare. This decisive action aims to address the escalating situation and ensure the safety of innocent citizens.
During an emergency security meeting with key stakeholders, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of balancing the right to peaceful protest with the need to maintain law and order.
He acknowledged the national phenomenon of protests but stressed that his administration will not tolerate any actions that compromise public safety.
The Governor seized this opportunity to address the underlying issues fueling the protests, citing the failure of the Federal Government as a collective failure of all tiers of government.
He pledged to make amends and reconnect with the people, despite the significant trust deficit in the country.
Governor Mohammed highlighted his administration's achievements, including:
Construction of over 7,000 classrooms, payment of salaries and promotions, building of 313 functional primary healthcare centers, repositioning of traditional institutions, construction of over 1,500 kilometers of roads.
While announcing the curfew, Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to Allah for mitigating the violence and commended stakeholders for their commitment and sportsmanship.
Meanwhile, he urged all parties to work together to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing the state. Let's work together to build a safer, more prosperous Bauchi State, he added.
