The Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE) Azare has taken a significant step into the digital age by implementing a series of innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education and aligning with modern standards.
Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, Provost of the College, stated this during an interview with journalists in Bauchi.
She mentioned that the institution has installed 24-hour solar lighting in its library, clinic, and ICT facilities, providing students with a conducive learning environment.
"The College has also transitioned to a refurbished and well-equipped physical and digital library with accessible internet connectivity, allowing students to access a vast array of academic resources," she said.
Professor Mohammed highlighted that the College's website, Gmail, and social media platforms are now fully operational, providing visibility and comprehensive information about the institution.
The Provost added that the College has centralized and automated its academic records on its portal, ensuring convenient access, transparency, and security.
“The faculty, both academic and administrative, now demonstrate 90% proficiency in computer literacy and engagement, ensuring that students receive the best possible education,” she noted.
She also mentioned that this year's Tetfund normal intervention plan includes the upgrading of the School of Education and the Gymnasium.
Additionally, the Provost disclosed that the state government, through the Ministry of Youths and Sports, is collaborating with the College to establish an Athletic Academy on the premises, providing students with opportunities to develop their athletic skills alongside their academic pursuits.
According to Professor Mohammed, the College's Innovation Center, set to launch in the upcoming semester, will offer dual certifications to graduating students, providing various programs focused on entrepreneurial skills and certifications.
“The College has also established partnerships with several organizations, such as the National Power Institute (NAPTIN), SMEDAN, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), and the Centre for Information and Technology Development (CITAD), among others, to facilitate these endeavors,” she added.
Professor Sadiya expressed her gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support, which has enabled the College to achieve these milestones.
“The Governor has authorized the recruitment of 154 junior staff, allocated funds for accrediting all NCE programs, and granted approval for accrediting four additional undergraduate programs,” she said.
