The Niger State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Niger RAAMP) has awarded a contract worth N76.9 billion for the rehabilitation and construction of 67.31 kilometres of rural roads across Niger State.

The contract, awarded through a competitive bidding process, underscores Niger RAAMP's commitment to improving rural access and fostering agricultural growth in alignment with the state government's "New Niger Agenda," championed by His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago. The successful contractors, recognized for their expertise and adherence to high-quality standards in infrastructure projects, will undertake rehabilitation and construction work with a focus on durability and sustainability.

"The rehabilitation of these rural roads marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to connect rural communities and facilitate better market access for agricultural produce," said Ambassador Nmaa Ahmed, Director General of Niger RAAMP. "This state government initiative will not only enhance transportation efficiency but also stimulate economic activities and improve the livelihood of rural dwellers."

Earlier, the State Project Coordinator of Niger RAAMP, Engr. Ibrahim Dada stated that "the work is expected to commence immediately and will cover strategic rural routes across Niger State, including the 51.15 km Gulu - Evuti - Lambara road and the 16.16 km Maikunkele - Jangaru - Gidan Mangoro roads. Upon completion, the rehabilitated roads will improve accessibility, reduce transportation costs, and promote social inclusivity by connecting previously isolated communities."

Niger RAAMP acknowledges the support of its development partners, the Hon. Commissioner of the Ministry for Rural and Community Development, Alh. Phahal Bako, and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in the successful procurement and award of the contracts. The project remains committed to transparency, accountability, and delivering impactful infrastructural solutions that benefit the people of Niger State.
