The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), has announced plans to facilitate cash grants for 5,000 market women and men across the seven LGAs of the senatorial district.
The Senator disclosed this in Yola during a meeting with his local government coordinators and the 2023 Senatorial Campaign Council, led by Alhaji Usman Muhammad Kaura.
The meeting, which involved fruitful discussions, also served as a reflection on his 14 months of representation as the senator for Adamawa Central. It was an opportunity to chart a way forward as part of ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the electorate.
Senator Abbas, who chairs the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science, and Technology, stated that he will soon embark on an inspection tour of various infrastructural projects—both completed and ongoing—that he facilitated within the Senatorial zone. He also plans to meet with his constituents during these visits.
Aminu Iya Abbas emphasized the importance of meeting with the campaign council to highlight the successes achieved so far. This necessitated the idea of an enlarged meeting to bring everyone on board.
The lawmaker, recognized as one of the most outstanding Senators in the National Assembly, also commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his significant achievements. He called for unity and cohesion among the political class in the state to ensure progress and peaceful development.
He pledged to continue working towards bringing more people-oriented projects to the senatorial district and welcomed ideas that would help improve the quality of life for his constituents.
While thanking the 2023 campaign structure at all levels for their support, Abbas promised to continue striving to attract the dividends of democracy through robust and effective representation. He added that he will support government efforts aimed at guaranteeing peace, security, and the welfare of all Adamawa people.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the Aminu Iya Abbas 2023 Campaign Council, Alhaji Usman Muhammad Kaura, praised Senator Abbas's unique style of representation, describing it as rare and something that should be politically encouraged and supported to ensure continued progress in Adamawa Central and beyond.
In their separate contributions during the meeting, members of the steering committee noted that the senator has broken the mold and become a shining example for the people of Adamawa Central and the state as a whole. They also commended the lawmaker for his quality representation, which they described as among the best, and prayed for God's blessings and strength for him.
