In a groundbreaking development, the Bauchi State government and China-based Minsheng Group from Shandong Province have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at unlocking the state’s vast natural and mineral resources.
The agreement, witnessed by Governor Bala Mohammed and the Commissioner of Natural Resources, Mohammed Maiwada Bello, is set to pave the way for sustainable mining activities and foster economic growth in the region.
This partnership is part of Governor Mohammed’s broader efforts following his recent visit to China, which focused on strengthening ties in mining and agriculture. The state's special-purpose vehicle will be used to maximize resource utilization, while the Minsheng Group has committed to sustainable development and growth in Bauchi State.
Speaking after the signing, Governor Bala Mohammed described the agreement as a direct result of his visit to China, where a twin-sister agreement was forged across multiple sectors. "We are committed to harnessing our natural resources for the benefit of our people," the governor emphasized.
The General Manager of Minsheng Group hailed the partnership as the beginning of a new era for Bauchi’s mining sector, promising to drive sustainable growth and development.
Earlier, Commissioner for Natural Resources Mohammed Maiwada Bello commended Governor Mohammed for creating a level playing field, expressing optimism about the benefits the state stands to gain from the partnership.
The strategic collaboration is expected to significantly boost Bauchi State's economy through increased mining activities, create job opportunities for the local population, and enhance both resource utilization and infrastructure development.
