Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has removed the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Adamu Sambo, shortly after presiding over the State Executive Council meeting earlier today.
Dr. Sambo's absence from today's meeting was noticeable, raising speculation about the decision. However, Governor Mohammed clarified that the removal was not due to poor performance, but rather part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to realign for greater efficiency and progress.
Additionally, the governor announced that the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs will remain under the control of a permanent secretary, citing the recent Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy in Nigeria as a key factor in the decision.
Before the commencement of the Executive Council meeting, three new commissioners were sworn in at the council chambers of the Government House, Bauchi. The newly appointed commissioners are:
- Hon. Zainab Baban Takko – Ministry of Women Affairs
- Dr. Sani Mohammad Danbam – Ministry of Health
- Engr. Mohammad Abdulkadir – Ministry of Commerce and Industry
In addition, Dr. Ahmad Abdulrahman, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), was sworn in as the Chief Security Adviser to the governor.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed commissioners, Hon. Zainab Baban Takko expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed for the trust placed in them. She assured the governor of their commitment to contributing innovative ideas and providing sustainable leadership to move Bauchi State forward.
