The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has inaugurated the newly elected executive members for Niger State.
The inauguration, held on Monday at the conference room of IBB University Guest House in Shango, Minna, was presided over by the CNG’s National Director of Political Affairs, Comrade Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed. He stated that the event was part of the organization's tradition of bringing on board fresh individuals with innovative ideas to propel the group forward.
Comrade Mohammed emphasized that CNG is known for advocating on behalf of the majority in Northern Nigeria across various areas of human endeavor, which is why the organization requires capable individuals to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them.
The National Director of Political Affairs, who also chairs the committee tasked with reorganizing CNG’s structures in Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Kaduna states, explained that the coalition is a collective of diverse civil society organizations, youth groups, and women's associations. Their mission is to protect the rights and welfare of the people in the northern region.
He further highlighted CNG’s involvement in providing educational, medical, and empowerment support to improve the livelihoods of people in the region. The coalition, he said, also addresses issues like drug abuse and has been vocal on the matter of insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
In Niger State, Comrade Mohammed noted that CNG has undertaken several community initiatives, including medical outreach programs that have positively impacted local communities. He added that the group is currently in discussions with stakeholders about upcoming programs aimed at addressing youth engagement and curbing thuggery in the state.
He called on all stakeholders and groups within the coalition to support the newly inaugurated executive team to fulfill its mandate and contribute to the welfare and well-being of the people in the state.
In his response on behalf of the new executive members, Niger State Coordinator of CNG, Comrade Abdullahi Musa Erena, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and affirmed their commitment to fulfilling the coalition's mandate in the state.
He assured that no member organization would be excluded, stating that the success of CNG depends on collective efforts. "We need everyone on board because the executive team cannot achieve this alone," he said.
Comrade Abdullahi Erena also urged his fellow executive members to remain proactive, stressing that the days of occupying an office and becoming inactive are over. He encouraged them to bring forth progressive ideas to advance CNG’s mission in the state and beyond.
