The Emir of Zazzau Suleja, Mallam Muhammad Auwal Ibrahim, has urged the Niger State government to prioritize education, particularly in Suleja Emirate. The Emir made the appeal on Sunday during a school enrollment campaign led by the Chairman of Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Malam Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, in Suleja, Tafa, and Gurara local government areas.

Represented by the District Head of Kwamba, Alhaji Suleiman Musa Sauƙi, the Emir expressed concern over the deteriorating state of schools in the emirate, especially Suleiman Barau Technical College, Suleja, which provides both education and vocational skills. He emphasized the need for urgent attention to improve the dilapidated school structures.

The Emir commended the efforts of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago in developing the state and praised the NSUBEB team for reviving the annual school enrollment drive. He pledged his support for the initiative.

During the campaign, local stakeholders, including the Chairman of Gurara LGA, Hon. Abdulhalim Abubakar, highlighted challenges such as poor school infrastructure and inadequate teacher welfare, urging NSUBEB to address these issues.

The Chairman of NSUBEB, Malam Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, stressed the importance of education and called for collaboration with stakeholders to boost school enrollment in the emirate. He assured the community that efforts are being made to improve the education system, but emphasized that without increased enrollment, progress would be limited.

Other key contributors at the event included representatives from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Adolescence Girl Child Initiative for Learning Empowerment (AGILE), who reiterated their commitment to improving education in the state.
