As part of the celebrations marking his 21st anniversary on the throne and his 72nd birthday, His Royal Highness, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar CFR, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, visited the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Bida.

During the event, the Controller of Corrections, Niger State Command, Maikudi Garba Adamu, welcomed the Emir and his entourage on behalf of the CGCS, Haliru Nababa. He praised the monarch for his support and care for the vulnerable inmates, acknowledging the impact of the Etsu Nupe's kind gesture in providing hope and promoting the core mandate of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The Controller of Corrections congratulated Etsu Nupe on his 21 years on the throne and his 72nd birthday, praying for his continued health, long life, and blessings for the progress of his domain and humanity, especially for the underprivileged.

In his address, Etsu Nupe encouraged the inmates to be law-abiding and take full advantage of the educational and vocational programs available to them, which would help transform their lives and enable them to become productive members of society after their sentences.

The monarch reassured both the inmates and staff of his continued support for their welfare and commended the Nigerian Correctional Service for its dedication to reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders into society.

Musa G. Mohammed, Officer in Charge of the Bida Correctional Center, expressed his gratitude to the Emir and the emirate council for their donations, including food items, the payment of fines for indigent inmates, and the installation of solar-powered lights at the facility. These contributions, he said, have boosted the morale of the staff and enhanced their service delivery.
