MHWUN Urges Members to Support Present Government in Niger State

The newly elected State Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Niger State Council, Comrade Usman Abubakar Dabban, has called on members of the union to rededicate themselves to their work in order to benefit from the "New Niger Agenda" of the current administration, led by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago. He emphasized that this agenda is crucial for the overall development and upliftment of the health sector in the state.

In a press release signed by the State Secretary of the Medical and Health Workers Union, Comrade Abdullahi M.A. Abubakar, it was noted that Comrade Dabban acknowledged the significant role played by all union members in providing adequate healthcare services, particularly to women and children in the state. He urged members not to shirk their responsibilities.

The State Chairman assured members that the newly elected state executives would remain committed to enhancing the welfare of its members. He emphasized that training and retraining of union members would be a top priority under his leadership.

Comrade Dabban also congratulated the other elected officials and expressed appreciation to the national returning officers who conducted the election, as well as to all union members for their mature and peaceful conduct during the state delegate conference.

He gave special commendation to the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, for personally attending the conference, and assured him that the new leadership would continue to build on the legacies he left behind during his tenure as state chairman of the union. Comrade Dabban also called on the deputy governor to continue providing fatherly advice to the new state executives.

Other state executives elected include Comrade Ishaku Karuma as Vice Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim B. Mohammed as Treasurer, Comrade Mohammed Sani Idris as State Trustee, Comrade Ibrahim Isah as Auditor, and Comrade Rayyanu M. Sule as Public Relations Officer.

The state delegate conference was held on September 11, 2024, at Doko Hotels, Minna.
