The Zamfara Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over the sum of ₦630,750 to a relative of victims involved in a road traffic accident. The crash, attributed to wrongful overtaking and overspeeding, involved two vehicles: a white bus with registration number ABJ 758 XB and an unregistered ash-colored Volkswagen Golf. The accident occurred on November 21, 2024, at about 11:45 a.m. along the Gusau–Funtua route, near Tazame village.
In a statement signed by the Sector Head of Public Education, SRC Isah Aliyu Kankara, it was disclosed that the FRSC's standby rescue team promptly responded to a distress call and arrived at the scene of the accident. The team evacuated the victims to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau and recovered several personal items belonging to them, which included three Tecno keypad phones, two Android smartphones, and cash totaling ₦630,750.
The recovered cash and items were handed over to Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Karakkai, a relative of the accident victims. The Sector Commander, CC Tijjani Iliyasu, called on motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing the dangers of overspeeding, overloading, and dangerous overtaking.
