The Member of Parliament for Demsa/Numan/Lamurde federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori has organized a second round of training for 150 youths on peace-building and conflict resolution in Adamawa State.

Experts at the event, titled "Peace Begins With Me," praised the workshop as a significant step towards improving stability, security, and behaviour change among communities, not only in Adamawa but throughout Nigeria.

Speaking at the event held Monday at Pwanobato Events Center in Numan, Hon. Laori emphasized the crucial role of youth in peace-building. He stated, "If youths are trained in peace, they become role models and examples in society." Laori also noted that restoring a sense of safety in Numan, as in the past, would encourage people from neighbouring Gombe and Taraba states to return to the area for leisure.

He urged participants to act on what they had learned, becoming ambassadors of peace within their communities.

Dr. Gerald Okafo, Director of Defense and Security Studies at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Abuja, led the training and commended Hon. Laori for organizing the event. Dr. Okafo emphasized the importance of peace training for youth, noting that young people are often both agents and victims of conflict. "We are confident that, through these young people, we will soon see greater peace and mutual understanding," he said.

The three-day training aimed to instil a sense of responsibility among youth for promoting community development. Previously, Hon. Laori organized a similar peace workshop for 150 women, providing each participant with financial support of 100,000 Naira, a gesture he also extended to youth attendees this time.

Dignitaries at the event included the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wali Yakubu; Executive Chairmen of Numan, Lamurde, and Demsa LGAs; Hon. Mrs. Talatu Yohanna; and representatives from CAN and the Muslim Council, as well as a representative of His Royal Highness Homun Dr. Daniel Ismaila Shaga.
