Huriyya Dauda Lawal, wife of the Zamfara State Governor, has launched a debt settlement program to assist 1,000 individuals across the state’s nineteen emirate councils. In collaboration with the Zakkat and Endowment Board, she also distributed rice and cash to the less privileged, aiming to alleviate poverty in Zamfara.
At the program's launch at the State Zakkat Collection, Distribution, and Endowment Board, Huriyya Dauda Lawal explained that this initiative seeks to reunite families, restore dignity, and empower recipients to achieve self-reliance.
A statement signed by Zara'u Musa, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor's Wife (Media and Communication), announced that approximately one thousand people would benefit from this initiative. The Governor, His Excellency, directed the Zakkat and Endowment Board to intervene, especially for individuals in correctional facilities due to unpaid debts.
Huriyya Dauda Lawal also provided cash grants and rice to beneficiaries, encouraging them to avoid loans to preserve their dignity. She assured the public that this debt relief program will be an ongoing effort aimed at reducing the suffering of vulnerable citizens across Zamfara.
