Hon. Umar Ahmed Sanda Rebe, Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, visited the Agaie Emirate today as part of the ongoing sensitization efforts for the Nomadic Baseline Data Capturing Exercise.
Accompanied by key ministry officials, including Permanent Secretary Alhaji Salihu Muhammad Alfa, the Director of Administration, the Director of Finance, and other senior staff members, the commissioner was warmly welcomed at the palace of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu. A large gathering of traditional leaders, including district heads, village heads, Ardos, and representatives from pastoralist communities, attended the event.
The Emir of Agaie praised the historical ties between the Emirate and the pastoralist community. He emphasized the importance of education and peaceful coexistence, urging nomadic families to enroll their children in schools and maintain strong communication with local leaders to support developmental initiatives.
In his address, the Honourable Commissioner expressed gratitude for the Emirate’s hospitality and cooperation. He underscored the significance of the data capturing exercise in addressing the unique needs of nomadic communities across Niger State, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development.
Ardo Umaru Lapai, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Niger State, also attended the event, symbolizing the pastoralist community’s strong support for the initiative.
The visit reinforced the Ministry's dedication to engaging traditional leaders and community members in its mission to improve the welfare and opportunities available to nomadic populations.
