Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori, the member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, was elected as the National President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) on Friday in Abuja.
PPFN, established in 1959, is a premier national healthcare provider and a leading advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Nigeria. The organization addresses critical issues such as unwanted pregnancies, child abandonment, and unsafe abortions. It also focuses on preventing and treating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and improving maternal and child healthcare in collaboration with partners like UNFPA, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Federal Ministry of Health.
Chief Kwamoti, who previously served as PPFN's State Secretary, Zonal Chair, and NEC member, was sworn in as National President after a closely contested election held at the Cinderella Hotel in Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Laori expressed gratitude to the NEC members and delegates for their confidence in him. He pledged to dedicate himself fully to the service of the organization and the betterment of humanity.
