The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, has facilitated the training of over 100 constituents through a multi-million naira capacity-building initiative. The program focuses on technology skills transfer, innovation technologies evaluation, and the preservation of agricultural produce to enhance food safety in the district.
The training, currently taking place at the Nigeria Union of Teachers House in Yola, is organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in collaboration with MAKPLAN Global Investment Nigeria Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Senator Abbas, represented by Mallam Adamu Babikkoi Adamu, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of the initiative. He explained that participants, drawn from the seven local government areas that constitute Adamawa Central, were being equipped with technical skills in modern farming as well as practical knowledge of biotechnology.
Senator Abbas expressed optimism that the program would empower beneficiaries to achieve self-sufficiency and significantly contribute to the agricultural economy of Adamawa State.
Salihu Umar Babayi, an NBTI representative, described the program as a unique opportunity and commended Senator Abbas for consistently prioritizing the empowerment of his constituents. He urged the senator to maintain his commitment to impactful initiatives, recalling similar efforts during his tenure in the State Assembly. Babayi assured participants that they would be provided with resources to implement their newly acquired skills.
Dr. Kabir Dan Maliki, Managing Director of MAKPLAN Global Investment Limited, also addressed the participants. He encouraged them to utilize the knowledge gained to benefit their communities, improve farming practices, and enhance their livelihoods.
In separate interviews, some participants expressed their gratitude for the initiative. Mr. Jonathan Nathan from Hong Local Government Area and Ummulkhari Mohammed from Yola North praised Senator Abbas for his unwavering support of local agriculture and economic empowerment. They noted that the skills and resources acquired during the training would help them become self-reliant and create new income streams.
Another participant, Mrs. Rifkatu John, highlighted the valuable insights she gained on the first day of training, including best practices in modern farming, effective horticulture techniques, and strategies to maximize yield and profitability.
The participants collectively prayed for Senator Abbas, wishing him continued wisdom and success in his efforts to serve the people of Adamawa Central effectively.
