The pragmatic approach adopted by the Bago-led administration in Niger State has been identified as the critical factor needed to transform the education sector in line with global best practices.
This was stated by Alhaji Abdullahi Asab Garba, the Director of Test and Measurement at the Niger State Ministry of Basic Education, during a radio program monitored in Minna, the state capital.
According to the director, the administration’s prioritization of science, technical education, and innovation is set to fast-track the government's objective of producing graduates who are not only employable but also self-reliant, equipped with the skills and knowledge to become employers of labor.
He emphasized that with a committed and dedicated Commissioner, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, the former governor’s education transformation initiative is not only achievable but also destined to become a successful legacy.
Alhaji Garba highlighted the visionary leadership provided by Dr. Mohammed, which is steadily improving the state’s primary and secondary schools by making them more conducive to learning. This is being achieved through the provision of adequate classroom furniture and modern teaching and learning tools.
He expressed optimism that, given the commissioner’s resolve, cases where pupils sit on bare floors to learn will soon become a thing of the past.
The director urged residents of Niger State to align themselves with the government’s new education policy, which is designed to address developmental challenges and meet the aspirations of the 21st century.
Alhaji Garba, who is also the Kaigaman Kagara Emirate, commended the former governor for promptly offsetting debts owed to WAEC and NECO upon assuming office. He noted that this move reflects the administration’s commitment to being a progressive partner with these examination bodies in charting a new course for the state’s educational resurgence.
