The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Sanda Rebe Jonwuron Minna, has played a pivotal role in reconciling the pastoralist and farming communities of Barkuta in Bosso Local Government Area. The peace-building meeting was convened by the District Head of Barkuta, with the support of Mai Samarin Minna, who also holds the title of Magajin Garin Barkuta.

In his address, Hon. Sanda Rebe emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity, and mutual respect between the two communities. He urged both pastoralists and farmers to prioritize education—both Islamic and Western—and to exercise patience and understanding to ensure the collective progress of their region.

In recognition of his significant contributions to fostering peace and unity in the area, Hon. Sanda Rebe was conferred with the prestigious title of Sardaunan Fulanin Barkuta.

As part of his efforts to support the community, Hon. Rebe distributed school uniforms, bags, and exercise books to students in the area. He also announced plans for further distributions of educational materials to address the needs of the community’s children.

During the event, Hon. Rebe called for sustained collaboration between the Minna Emirate, Bosso Local Government, and the Niger State Government to maintain peace and security in the region.

Speaking at the gathering, Mai Samarin Minna underscored the fact that crime knows no ethnicity, urging all parties to focus on progress and unity rather than conflict.

Traditional and religious leaders present at the event echoed the call for peaceful coexistence, emphasizing its importance for ensuring a prosperous future for everyone in the region.

The event drew a large crowd from both the pastoralist and farming communities, as well as notable dignitaries, including the Bosso Local Government Council Secretary, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Nomadic Affairs, the Secretary of SUBEB Niger State, Khalifa Beji, and representatives from the Beji Police Division.
