Abdulaziz Suleiman, Northern Elders Forum"s Director of Non-governmental organizations and Civil Societies says the nation's leadership is characterized by individuals poorly prepared and ill-equipped to lead.
He said those individuals were driven only by ambition for power and wealth.Therefore leaving people at the mercy of armed crime, unforgivable poverty and derision from other parts of the country.
Suleiman stated this at the 1st Convocation and 4th Matriculation ceremony of Arewa Ambassador College of Health Science and Technology, held in Tukur tukur, Zaria.
He advised younger generation especially students to engage actively in shaping the future of the society.
The Director noted that despite all challenges, there are unprecedented opportunities for the youth to mobilize collective strength and resources to change the narrative.
Suleiman who is also the Chairman of the college's board said students and youth must build robust economy while fostering enterprising individuals to cultivate a strong generation imbued with pride and faith to facilitate positive development in the north and Nation as a whole.
While congratulating the graduands and fresh students, the NEF executive tasked them to replicate the knowledge acquired positively to enhance the health status of the society.
He appreciated the parents for sacrificing their resources to better the lives of their children through sound health education.
Suleiman noted with satisfaction the onerous commitment of the Kuliyan Zazzau, Justice Ishak Usman Bello for being the strongest pillar of the college's continued existence and progress.
The Board chairman also encouraged the giant stride of the management in its bid to expand both the structure and academic standard of the college, urging all stakeholders to join hands together to achieve the set goal.
Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Bamalli, the Madakin Gonar Zazzau who represented the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli described health profession as life saving endeavor and urged graduating students to strictly adhere to the ethics of the profession while on the job.
Bamalli pledged the readiness of the emirate to contribute meaningfully in the expansion of the college's structure and requested for a bill of quantity for the project for further assistance.
In his speech, the Provost of the college, Mallam Murtala Iliyasu said the first Convocation marked a significant milestone in the school's bid to inject into the society well- trained health personnel to aid their various communities.
He explained that the expansion of the college was aimed at accommodating more students, facilitating more equipment/ facilities as well as providing enabling and conducive atmosphere for learning.
Iliyasu who appreciated the great contribution of Justice Ishak Bello, the Kuliyan Zazzau for numerous fatherly assistance also saluted the dedication of the Governing Board under the chairmanship of Comrade Abdulaziz Suleiman for steering the activities of the institute deli gently.
The Provost called for more support and cooperation of parents and students to allow the college meet it's targeted goal.
