The Zamfara State Chapter of the National Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA) recently received an unscheduled visit from a national board member of the association, Alhaji Umar Dan Asabe.

During the visit, Dan Asabe stated that his purpose was to strengthen the relationship between the national headquarters of the association and its state chapter.

He commended the leadership of the state chapter, under Chairperson Hajiya Shema'u Nalado, for its efforts in advancing the association's mission. He described these efforts as a welcome development and an important step toward promoting women's participation in agriculture.

Dan Asabe further explained that NAWIA has been receiving support from international donor agencies and all levels of government. However, he stressed that the Zamfara State Chapter requires more assistance from the state government, as security challenges have deterred donors from coming to the state.

In her remarks, Hajiya Shema'u Nalado Gusau expressed gratitude to Alhaji Umar Dan Asabe for his visit, noting that it would serve as motivation for the chapter to continue its efforts in educating women and encouraging their participation in agriculture.

She appealed to the state government to support NAWIA, emphasizing that more women are now engaged in agriculture. She urged the government to ensure that women are included in the distribution of agricultural inputs, particularly during the rainy season, so they can benefit from the initiative.

The association's legal adviser in Zamfara State, Barrister Kabiru Haruna, also spoke during the visit. He affirmed that NAWIA operates in accordance with the law and called for greater support from the state government to enhance its activities.
