Parents have been tasked to encourage children's learning on both Western and Islamic knowledge for a better and well informed society.
They were also told to reciprocate education of their wards by encouraging teachers and school proprietors to continue the good work of educating the community by executing part of their bargain as at when due.
Gwani Abdullahi Abba, a reknowned Islamic scholar and Vice Chairman, Zaria local government council gave the task at the first graduation ceremony of nine students who memorized the Holy Qur'an at Umrabs School, Tudun jukun,Zaria.
He said "the only legacy parents could leave to their children is sound and quality education that will be a foundation to better life both now and in the hereafter.
"I urged parents not to compromise the education of their children no matter the odd and circumstances." he warned.
While congratulating the graduands, Gwani Abba urged them to consider their achievement as a starting point in the quest to pursuit of Islamic knowledge.
The Vice chairman urged the students to make adequate use of the knowledge acquired in all their endeavors, as guiding principle.
In his remarks, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkarim, The Uban Doman Zazzau and District Head of Giwa urged parents expand their resources on the education of their children despite all hardship.
Ubangiji Doman stressed the importance of education especially Islamic knowledge in shaping the society and ensuring a united and peaceful society.
Earlier, Dr. Isa Sa'idu, Director,Umrabs School, said the Quranic memorization walimah was the first of its kind organized for the nine students comprising six boys, three girls who graduated from the Zaid bn Thabit section of the school.
He explained that the section was introduced three years back as a pilot programme and has since proved highly commendable and successful.
The Director therefore announced that the Qur'anic memorization programme will commence from JSS1 so that students could the memorization before going to the SS stage.
UMRABS School Tudun Jukun Zaria, has organised its 1st Quranic memorization Walimah for its nine students who completed the memorization under ZAID BN THABIT section.
In his remarks, Vice Chairman Zaria Local Government Area, Gwani Abdullahi Abba said the landmark achieved by the school at the moment is commendable.
Gwani Abba who expressed appreciation for what he described as the best of the time and called for support and encouragement.
He appealed to parents to give every support to their children while struggling for knowledge for both Islamic and Western education.
Vice Chairman Abba congratulated the parents for taking the challenges to see their children come this far.
Also in his words of encouragement, the District Head of Giwa, Uban Doman Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkarim tasked parents to give their children education at all cost.
He said if parents fail to support their children’s education they will bite their fingers regretting their action.
The traditional ruler congratulated the students for the successful completing of Quranic memorization at their early stage.
In his address, the Director of the School, Dr. Isa Saidu Liman said the Quranic memorization walimah wass organized for nine successful students out of this, six are boys, while three are girls.
He said is a pilot programme and it has been successful for three years.
Dr. Isa Liman announced that Quranic memorization will commence from JSS1 before going to SSS, they will complete the memorization.
At the end of the Walimah, certificates were issued to the nine successful students
